Scottish Golf Vacations – Why Being Pessimistic Pays Off

May 29th, 2010 by articles

Anyone planning Scottish golf vacations would like a no hitch golf holiday. Wouldn’t you? But so much can go wrong - in the planning itself, during the trip, during their stay in their hotels, and on the golf course itself. We all want a golf vacation where nothing goes awry, but sometimes they do. Forewarned is to be informed of your potential source of anxiety.

Scottish Golf Vacations -When you hire a golf tour company that under-delivers

If you’ve already taken Scottish golf vacations using a particular golf tour company and package, you might want to take those again. Otherwise, you gamble on a new company. That might not be good. Anything can go wrong when you hire a company that fails - from the booking of hotel accommodations, to the missed or delayed airport pick up, to the availability or even quality of the golf links where you're supposed to spend some time. You’re probably better off researching some golf tour companies’ background before you hire them.

Preoccupied with family

If you’ve spent previous and disaster-filled Scottish golf vacations with your family, you might want to rethink bring them along next time. If you spend more time taking care of them and enjoying your game, that’s a clue you should not take lightly. Unless you could bring a sitter with you and keep your family preoccupied while you play golf, maybe you should take a family-free vacation.

Scottish Golf Vacations -Getting sick during your planned holiday

You could get sick, just when you and your friends were planning for Scottish golf vacations. That means you either skip the trip or push on, even though you’re sick. Sometimes the latter works, as getting away from the work and domestic scene clears up your mind and soul, even though you're too sick or weak to play. It’s probably the company of good friends that help us get better.

Lost luggage

One of the worst things that could happen is for your golf equipment to get lost. This happens all the time in airports and bus stations. Pray they’re not stolen.
You may have already missed a couple of games by the time your luggage gets found. Try to bring some back up cash, if you can, just in case you might need to rent or buy golf gear.

Scottish Golf Vacations -There is something called "Murphy's Law" - if something can go wrong, it will. Knowing what can and do go wrong, hopefully, allows you to better plan your Scottish golf vacations. Find a good golf tour company. Think hard if you want family with you on your trip. Watch your health. Check your luggage. And be certain no problems are left at the work place. Just because bad thing can happen doesn’t mean they cannot be avoided.

Scotland Golf Tour – Making Time For A Golf Vacation

May 29th, 2010 by articles

Can’t seem to think straight at work? Maybe a golf break is in order. Continuous stress at work lowers the capacity of the immune system to function, and fatigue and anxiety reduces employee performance levels. So maybe it’s time to reconsider that Scotland golf tour you’ve been dreaming about. It’s not impossible to sneak in some time for the game you love. Here are some tips.

Scotland Golf Tour -You need some sleep

It's most pleasant to play golf when you're not plagued by migraines, lack of sleep, a bad back, and worries that you didn't finish some vital task. Same thing goes with your work. You can perform better when you’re rested and focused. Sleeping actually rests your mind and body, relieves some tension, allowing you to take a perspective at things that’s fresh. The sooner you take a nap of get good night’s sleep, the sooner you can wrap up work and take that Scotland golf tour.

Explore your work schedule – is it really that clogged with tasks?

Sometimes seeing the same clogged calendar and schedule locks our minds from seeing possibilities. Have you considered asking for more manpower? It’s ok to say no to tasks management hands down, especially when the schedule they expect is not feasible. If somehow you still get a feeling something more could be done to ease up your workload, maybe you need to consider things from another angle. Try conferring with a colleague about it.

Scotland Golf Tour -Defer, delegate, or do the chores and errands

Judging which tasks need more attention is crucial, and you can’t really do that when you’re mind is stressed out and tired. This is when your extra sleep time pays off. You can decide, since you see things fresh, which needs priority. Despite the popularity of multi-tasking, not many workers can do it efficiently. A good measurement is if one could start, keep track of, and adjust to the needs of 5 different tasks at the same time, for prolonged periods of time. If one could do this in a few days, imagine the stress it would inflict on you if it lasted months. But if you could focus on a single task and get it done right and quickly, you have more time to finish other tasks, without feeling overburdened. If one could single task in sequence, it would get more done, as multi-tasking has that effect of making us easily distracted, and therefore it’s tougher to focus, easier to feel overwhelmed. The sooner you can finish more through single tasking, the sooner you can go to that Scotland golf tour.

How not to be phoned by the office during your vacation

The last thing you want is to be phoned by your office, because your superior or co-worker cannot find or access certain files and reports assigned to you. CC all the crucial members of management and those involved in your projects, and make sure the attached documents are not corrupted. Prepare individual emails to project members in anticipation of their confusion - so you can direct them to where they can get info that's needed. That way delays are not pegged on you, the guy who so wanted to take that Scotland golf tour and get out of the office.

Scotland Golf Tour -These are but a few ideas on how to clear up your work load so you can go on a Scotland golf tour, which you deserve given all that hard work.

Scotland Golf Package – How To Salvage A Vacation Gone Bad

May 29th, 2010 by articles

Those who’ve chosen a Scotland golf package, or any holiday package, know that sometimes so many things go wrong even on a carefully planned vacation. Preparation is key, but so is having a cheerful and realistic mindset. You might benefit from the tips below on salvaging your golf vacation.

Scotland Golf Package -When the pick up driver doesn’t pick you up

There’s an optional pick up vehicle sent by the golf tour company handling your Scotland golf package, to drive your to the airport, when you request one. Sometimes the unforeseen happens and the driver's vehicle breaks down, is delayed by traffic, or gets lost. Perhaps your co-worker or neighbour could drive you to the airport or bus station. It’s back up plan you need, and that comes in the form of gassing up the family car or asking a friend to drive you to the airport just in case.

You don’t get to stay where you paid for

Bad luck sometimes hits in the form of human error, like with the golf tour company making mistakes in booking your hotel arrangements. So try not to be too tired during the trip, since you might need to scout and drive around for hotels, while phone your golf tour company about the problem. Why not choose hotels near some golf links.

Scotland Golf Package -Getting sick during your holiday

If you were feeling under the weather, perhaps due to work stress, just before your trip, the full effect of that malady might fall on you during your vacation. But then some push on with their chosen Scotland golf package, even when they do get sick. At least they’re work is behind them. Some actually get depressed when this happens, even though they can actually get a good night’s rest and are away from all that cause of stress – work.

When your children comes with you

You won’t be able to spend a lot of play time on the course if you have to worry and take care of your kids. Try to bring a sitter if you can’t leave your children at home. Or perhaps your wife can arrange for activities during your vacation that amuses them enough to let you play. Or maybe you may want to not bring them with you next time.

Scotland Golf Package -Work calls you up to tie up some loose ends

Prepare some auto-respond emails in anticipation of getting emailed by your office. Voicemail is nice, too. You don’t want to think about work on the golf course.

So, preparing to go through your Scotland golf package would include making sure that (1) the golf tour company you hire is reputable, (2) that you are willing to take alternate transportation arrangements, (3) that you are sure your family will not cause trouble if you bring them, and (4) that you are covered well-enough at work.

Golf Accommodation In Scotland – A Golf Ball Buying Guide

May 26th, 2010 by articles

You may want to start shopping for your gear if you’ve secured golf accommodations in Scotland. You might as well start thinking of buying your own golf balls. Here’s a brief guide for you.

Golf Accommodation Scotland -Range practice golf balls

If you’re just staring out in golf, you’re expected to spend a long time in the range, using up buckets of golf balls for practice. These golf balls are range balls, and whether you chip them or hit full shots, you could also purchase them in case you prefer to practice in another range. You should practice, before heading out to enjoy your golf accommodation in Scotland.

Factory defective golf balls

Golf balls that suffered manufacturing errors and mishaps are dubbed X-out. The ‘dent’ is often only cosmetic, hardly affecting how the ball ‘performs.’ But because of such 'dent' the companies sell these not under their brand, and are often marked in a row of balls marked X. Most sport shops carry these among their items for sale.

Pre-owned golf balls

Although playing with used golf balls is far from glamorous, it's more affordable. That translates into savings. But if you’re into golf as a kind of status symbol, using used golf balls might not be advisable. These are often one of the items sold in garage sales. Some golf balls have defects, such as discoloration, bulges, cuts, and so on. Avoid them.

Golf Accommodation Scotland -The refurbished type

You will find these repacked into good-looking boxes, complete with branding. Naturally, they come more expensive than used balls and x-outs, but there are more affordable than the branded new ones.

Closeouts

These are often discontinued older golf ball brands sold cheaply. Most online golf supply sellers have a link for a section of their site about closeouts.

Logo overruns – customised

Sometimes a company buys custom ordered golf balls often with their company's logo and event date stamped on the balls. Sometimes these never make it to the companies that order them, or otherwise get returned, and then resold as logo overruns. Though they sometimes get dismissed as cheap ones, probably because of the company logo, these are good as the brand name golf balls.

Golf Accommodation Scotland -And the value category

These are crafted to reduce spin, improve distance, and do not wear out as quickly as other golf balls. These belong to name brands and are marketed at affordable prices. New golf players are probably better off with these, instead of burning money on the branded and expensive ones.

You can choose from these kinds of golf balls if you’re new to the game. Be sure to use the golf balls you buy in your practice sessions. You want to be familiar with your own gear. Naturally, you might have a great golf accommodation in Scotland awaiting you. So have fun on the course.

Golf Break Scotland – Safety First

May 26th, 2010 by articles

Golf, to many people, seems to be a very safe sport. It is, actually, compared, say to football. But when some basic guidelines are not observed, injuries can and do occur. Should you be planning a golf break in Scotland, you would do well to keep in mind the rules below. The moment you overlook these guidelines, someone could get hurt. After all, it’s not a sign of a good vacation to come home with aches and pains, and the memory of having hurt someone on the course.

Golf Break Scotland -Take note of the people around you

Before you swing your club, look around to check if everyone’s a safe distance away from you. It’s just to make sure no one gets hit by accident. Sometimes, golfers who’ve had something to drink can forget about safety and walk right into the path of your swing. You don’t want that to happen. You don't want to injure someone on your golf break in Scotland.

Keep your eyes open, even when you’re not the one hitting

You should stay watchful of people around you, whether you’re the hitter or not. As an observer, be sure you're a good distance away from a golfer preparing to play his stroke. When other people are edging close to the hitter, ask them to stay back. This way, even the hitter might stop for a moment to re-check his surroundings.

Golf Break Scotland -Cover your head when you hear ‘fore,’ and shout it when you hit

There will be time when you assume the heading is clear, just after your stroke, only to see golfers on the area where your golf ball is headed. Trees, the sun’s glare, can hide them. In that case, shout loudly, ‘fore.’ This way, they will be informed and cover their heads. If you do hear the same warning, you should also cover up, in case a golf ball is speeding down near you. Everyone taking part in a golf break in Scotland should know.

Safe driving

Many golf carts come with a safety label you should read, and its directions you should follow. Avoid driving the golf cart beyond or outside the course's designated paths. While the cart is moving, do not hang your feet out. A golf cart is not an on-course dune buggy, and neither is it designed to drive around curves or down hills at top speed.

Golf Break Scotland -The metal golf club you carry, becomes a lightning rod during a storm

Frequent thunder and dark clouds usually signal the coming of lightning, so when you see this, head for the nearest club house. Head for designated lightning shelters if the clubhouse is too far away. Since trees also act as lightning rods, avoid taking shelter under them. Should you be caught in a thunderstorm farm from shelter, remove all metal implements from your person and continue looking for shelter. Remember these guidelines during your golf break in Scotland.

Carnoustie Golf Vacation – Proper Behaviour On The Golf Course

May 26th, 2010 by articles

Some players feel intimidated, or even nervous, about playing their first ever round of golf. You might be so self-conscious that you end up ruining your stroke. This only becomes more pronounced during your first Carnoustie golf vacation. As a new recruit to the game of golf, your friends’ eyes are on you. How does one act on the golf course? Here’s a guide. Because you surely don't want to have bad memories of your first Carnoustie golf vacation.

Carnoustie Golf Vacation
-Equipment matters

It’s not generally allowed to borrow your partner’s golf clubs. Just the same, you should buy and practice with your own gear. Bring up to fourteen clubs on your game. Make sure you stock up on tees and golf balls. Beginning players often lose a lot of golf balls. Also, bring a ballmark repair tool with you.

Set the tee time and make it on time

You can reserve tee time by getting in touch with the golf course. It’s usually golf course policy to indicate this a few days ahead of time. If you can, as this is your first Carnoustie golf vacation, try showing up early. Warming up before your turn wouldn’t be so bad. Your group could lose your spot, and it’s inconvenient to wait some more, especially when the course if packed with people. So show up early, hit a few balls on the range, and practice putting a few on the green.

Carnoustie Golf Vacation -Dress the part

There is often a dress code on many golf courses. So simply ask about the dress code where you are to play at and dress the part appropriately. Just bring a pair of khaki shorts or slacks, plus a golf shirt, these are often enough. Still, be sure to check. You don't want problems during your first Carnoustie golf vacation, problems you can avoid.

Play the golf ball where you found it

Exactly as stated, don’t move the golf ball where it was found. Although there are exceptions, it’s better to stick to this rule.

Check your group’s playing pace

Since there are often other groups of players behind your group, it’s better to keep a good pace of play. That way, you don’t keep others waiting. Simply hit when it’s your turn. Determine which club to use ahead of time - meaning while other players are hitting. That way all you need to do is hit when it's your turn. When you realise your playing team is slower than the one behind you, it’s often better to let them play through, and ahead of you, instead of letting them wait.

Carnoustie Golf Vacation -Golf etiquette also covers many other aspects of the game. So, on your first Carnoustie golf vacation it would do you well to keep these rules in mind.

A Future For The So Called ” Best Golf Course”?

May 17th, 2010 by articles

There seem to be many people out there that think that Donald Trumps £1bn golf resort should not be built, there are reasons for and against this.

Negatives

Homes

One of the main negatives that I have seen is that people live in the area that Trump wants to build on, although he has offered them financial support why should they be forced out of their homes, this is a very wrong thing to do and the council should not let this happen at all, people may be happy at their current location. People should not have to drop everything they know and love for a golf resort?

Eyesore

On the whole golf courses are beautiful areas of land it would seem that an entire resort is supposed to be being built here which would mean an eyesore on the very beautiful landscape north of Aberdeen.

Positives

Money

The resort would of course have its benefits and it is likely to bring in a lot of jobs for people in the surrounding areas which is really good news indeed. It would also be very good for attracting tourism to the area, I am almost certain it does not get many tourists at the moment.

Best Golf Course

If this idea actually works and Trump manages to make the best golf course in the world then surely this is something that Aberdeen, Scotland and the entire UK should be proud of having, its something that the Americans don't have at the very least. People would flock in from all over the world just to sample a hole of the course let alone play the entire thing.

It would encourage people to get those golf batteries out so that they can have a bit of fun. 12v batteries and marine batteries can also be used to power up all kinds of different golf trolleys.

Playing Golf- Best Places to Play a Round

March 26th, 2010 by articles

If you are a golf aficionado, there are several fantastic places for playing your favorite sport. These places are worth heading to for a fun and exciting golfing experience. One of the best golfing spots in the US is the San Francisco Golf Club, an 18-hole golfing facility in San Francisco, California. With a rating of 73 by the Professional Golfer's Association (PGA), this golf course makes for an excellent golfing spot if you want a more challenging game.

The Ahwatukee Golf Course in Phoenix, Arizona is another great spot for golfers as well. Designed by John Boulla, this golfing facility also includes a complete golf shop, full driving range, practice area for short games and restaurant set against a beautiful backdrop for a more pleasurable golfing experience.

While you're there, be sure to check out the Ahwatukee Lakes Golf Club. This 18-hole executive course was designed by Gary Panks and provides you with one of the best places to play in the country. The scenery is extravagant and the 44 water bunkers will bring a challenge like you've never seen. Best of all it's a golf course that suits all skill levels. Plus, they even host the Arizona Golf Association Short Course Championship.

The Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, South Carolina is one of the most popular golf courses in the whole world and continues to host major golfing tournaments such as the PGA Championship, World Cup and Ryder Cup. The Ocean Course gives players a nice view of the Atlantic Ocean's shoreline, with tees of par stretching as far as 7,873 yards. The Ocean Course is considered to be one of the hardest golf courses in the United States because of its tough bunkers, elevated fairways and strong wind blows. So if you seek to play golf in a more challenging fashion, the Ocean Course will definitely test your skills.

Everyone who is even remotely into golf has heard of the Pebble Beach Golf Links. After all, every year it continues to be one of the most popular golf courses in the country. Residing in Pebble Beach, California, this 18-hole course is a lot shorter at 6,828 yards, but the greens can be absolutely atrocious to overcome. The slope rating of 144 definitely makes up for the yards and it's what Jack Neville and Douglas Grant had in mind when they modeled the course.

If you're not into public courses and would prefer a more private setting, Augusta National Golf Club is the perfect answer. This course was designed by the great Bobby Jones and still is considered one of the most difficult ones today. You will also enjoy the surroundings as well with lush shrubs and trees. One thing you will notice is that each hole is named after a shrub or tree as well. All together it stretches 7,270 yards with a slope rating of 135. However, this course is built for both amateurs and professionals. There are various tees available that will allow everyone to enjoy their game and build memories to reflect on for years to come.

The top 3 Golf Courses, 2 in the USA!

March 13th, 2010 by articles

Deciding where you actually want to go can be the tricky part. However it can be quite difficult to find some of these other worldly golf Courses? Well hopefully these three will help you to make your mind, and I recommend viewing them as well!

So let us kick off the list with an American Golf course, these are after all the most popular. The Pine Valley Golf Club is situated in New Jersey and is considered one of the top places for golfing celebrities and champions to go on a golfing holiday. This amazing gold course has managed to keep its place at the top of most lists ever since it topped the Golf Club atlas in 1991.

How about now we top this off with the Cypress Point Club. This is by far one of the most visually stunning of the Golf Courses across the globe. This place has a wonderful setting just by the sea, and then on the other side surrounded by lush green meadow. This place has been so fantastically constructed that it even becomes tricky to determine which parts of the course are natural and which are man made, blending together beautifully.

If you want something on a different continent, then you should take a peek at the St Andrews Golf Course for a different view. You don't want to try the world's best golf course, then how about giving Europe's best a go. You can probably guess where it is, and yes you are right it is in Scotland, Fife. When you really drill down to where one of the best golf courses in the world should be, then it should realistically be in Scotland, and this is where are number two is based.

Maybe now you have an idea of where you would like to go on great Golf holidays, these greatest are just the tip of the ice berg, Caribbean Golf holidays are also very popular, but pale in comparison to USA Golf holidays demand.
